How to Preview Files

SciNote enables you to preview uploaded images, PDF files, and Microsoft Office files, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

How to preview files in SciNote

The above-mentioned file types can be uploaded to the individual protocol step or to the results within a task (Results tab). You can then change the preview size of each individual file. To do so, click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the file and select your preferred view size: Extra Large, Medium, or List.

You can also set the view size for all attachments in a step:

Attachments > Manage > All Attachment View Size

Full-screen preview

Regardless of which view size you select, any attachment can be opened in full-screen mode by clicking on it.

In full-screen view, you can also use the gallery feature to browse through all attached files in the current protocol step or results. If you are viewing an image, you can also access the Image Annotation Tool from this view. Learn more about the Image Annotation Tool.

The file preview size you set on a protocol step or in results is also reflected in SciNote reports. Learn how to embed files in reports.

If the file is not one of the supported types listed above, it can still be uploaded and stored in SciNote. However, to preview it, you will need to download it first.
