How to Use your Phone/Tablet to Scan our QR Codes?

If you are using SciNote on a phone/tablet, you can use the device as a 2D scanner on our inventory item QR codes.

SciNote integrates with Fluics and Zebra printers to print item labels from an inventory.

To have your phone/tablet work as a 2D scanner:

Apple Devices:

  1. Download a QR code scanner keyboard app
  2. Go to your device settings and click "general"
  3. Scroll down and select "keyboard"
  4. In the keyboard settings, click "keyboards" at the top.
  5. Select "add new keyboard"
  6. Scroll and select the 2D scanner keyboard under "third-party keyboards"

Android Devices:

  1. Download a QR code scanner keyboard app
  2. Go to your device settings and click "Language & Input"
  3. Click keyboards
  4. Find the 2D scanner keyboard and turn on the toggle on the right
  5. Click "ok" in the popout

Based on your device and operating system, settings can differ between devices. If you're unsure about adding a third-party keyboard to your device, I recommend checking out the manual for guidance.

Once your 2D scanner is added to your keyboards, you can scan the labels inside your inventory and in a task.

  1. Access SciNote from your phone/tablet
  2. When you are ready to scan, switch between your current keyboard and the 2D scanner keyboard
  3. Follow the instructions on how to use the app
