Any active user in your SciNote instance can create, re-generate, or revoke an API key from their 'My Profile' page. Org Admins can revoke active API keys at any time.
All SciNote users can generate an API Key from their 'My Profile' menu:
Follow these steps to generate an API Key to access the SciNote API:
- Navigate to your 'My Profile' page
- In the API Key section, click on the blue Generate button

Once you click on the Generate button, the API key is generated and fully displayed until you leave/refresh the page. You should copy it at this stage and use it in your integration.

*Warning – At the time of creating an API key, make sure to copy your key and store it in a secure location. If you refresh the page or leave and come back, the full API key is hidden and cannot be accessed again. *API keys expire after 1 year.
*Tip – if you forgot to store your API key when creating it, lost it, forget it, or if you need to create a new key, click Regenerate. When the API key no longer needs to be used, click Revoke.
*Tip – Org Admins can also Revoke any active API keys from teh Settings –> Members table. Filter for any active API keys thre, click the three dots, and the and then When the API key no longer needs to be used, click Revoke.

*Note – Though any user can create an API key, users will only have access to site data using the API according to their user roles/permissions as they have in your SciNote instance.
