From the Resource Center, click through the onboarding guides to review an example project structure and learn navigating SciNote's main pages and features: Projects, Inventories, Reports, and Protocol Templates.
In July 2024, SciNote launched in-app onboarding guides (accessed via our Resource Center) for users to learn the software from easy-to-follow, clickable walkthroughs!
*'Learn the Basics Part 1' launches automatically upon first login for new first-time users. Both guides can be started from the Resource Center at any time.
How to Access the Onboarding Guides
From within your SciNote portal, you can access our Resource Center from clicking the life preserver icon in the bottom lefthand corner of any page.
From there, click into the 'Getting started with SciNote' section to access the available onboarding guides.
To start, SciNote has two 'Learn the Basics' guides to help new users familiarize with the core features and learn how to navigate the platform, in the context of your SciNote environment.
'Learn the Basics Part 1'
This guide takes you through an overview of SciNote's main navigational panel and data structure, including how to switch between Team workspaces and an example Project, Experiment, and Task structure.
-
- Each SciNote instance has been preloaded with a sample Project called 'SciNote Examples', for which all the Team's users should have 'Viewer' access by default
Caution! For SciNote Teams that were created before June 12, 2024, your pre-loaded Project is labeled called 'Templates', not 'SciNote Examples'.
*Note for Team Owner users, the 'Learn the Basics Part 1' guide only works properly if the pre-loaded Project is Active (not archived) and labeled 'SciNote Examples'.
- Project Owners can rename 'Templates' to 'SciNote Examples' as needed, or if your users experience issues accessing this guide, please direct your users to this recorded 'Learn the Basics Part 1' video instead.
*Pro Tip – preserve the 'SciNote Examples' Project as-is in order to help train and onboard your new users to the software! (i.e., don't rename it, archive it, or update data within the Experiments and Tasks)
Learn the Basics Part 2
This second onboarding guide takes you through an overview of SciNote's remaining main features that are included with all plans. This guide covers: basic Inventory management, Protocol Templates, Reports, the Dashboard page, Settings, and more.
Each SciNote instance has been preloaded with a sample Project called 'SciNote Examples', for which all the Team's users should have 'Viewer' access by default*Note – 'Learn the Basics Part 2' does not cover any pages that are linked to access permissions, so there is not a recorded walkthrough video for this guide.
Recommendations for Using the Onboarding Guides
