Filtering Your View

Selecting projects

Insights supports filtering across multiple projects at once. You can select projects by choosing individual projects or by selecting entire project folders. Your selection is saved automatically and persists between sessions.

Setting a date range

Use the date range picker to focus the dashboard on a specific time period. Note that the date range applies to the Item Consumption, Tasks Due, and Bottlenecks widgets. It does not apply to Status Overview and Team Workload.

What You’ll See in the Insights Dashboard

Project Insights includes four charts (widgets), each showing a different view of your project’s activity.

1. Status Overview

Displays the status of all tasks and experiments in the selected project.

  • Use the toggle to switch between Tasks and Experiments

  • Hover over segments to see counts and percentages

  • Click on a segment (task view only) to open a filtered task list

Helpful for seeing how much work is completed, in progress, or pending.

2. Team Workload

Shows how tasks are distributed across users in the project.

  • Stacked bar chart shows task statuses per assignee

  • Tasks with multiple assignees count for each user

  • Click a segment to view that user’s tasks in the filtered task list

Tip: You can use this to evaluate who is overloaded or under-assigned.

3. Tasks Due

Highlights tasks that are due or overdue based on due dates.

  • Tabs for: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, This Week, and Next Week

  • Tasks are sorted by urgency

  • Completed tasks are excluded

Tip: Use this to focus on what’s coming up or overdue.

4. Item Consumption

Summarises inventory item consumption across the selected project(s) and date range. You can further filter by Inventory, and export the results to Excel.

Items appear in this widget when at least one consumption record exists for them within the selected time period and projects. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Only consumption records of type "Task" are counted - direct stock adjustments made in the Inventory are not included.
  • An item is listed even if it is no longer assigned to a task in the selected projects, as long as a consumption record exists for it in the selected period and you currently have access to the item.
  • Archived and deleted items are not listed.
  • Each item appears once, with its total consumption summed across all matching records.
  • Changing an item's unit over time does not affect the calculation.
  • Snapshots of items have no effect; only records from the consumption ledger are counted.

Tip: Useful for tracking how much of a resource has been used, such as reagents, consumables, or chemical stocks.

5. Bottlenecks

Lists tasks that haven’t been updated recently.

  • Choose from: No updates in 7, 14, or 30 days

  • Tasks in “Not Started” status and the final status (depending on your Task workflow) are excluded

Helps identify stalled work that may need follow-up.
