How to access and export the Audit Trail in SciNote?
The Audit Trail in SciNote is a detailed activity history that tracks all changes and actions performed within your workspace. It supports traceability, accountability, and compliance—particularly for teams operating under regulatory frameworks like 21 CFR Part 11.
Audit Trails are available as part of SciNote's Premium plans with the 21 CFR Part 11 add-on.
Only users with the Owner role can access the full team-level audit trail.
To access the Audit Trail of a particular team:

Click the Settings icon (gear icon) in the upper right corner of SciNote.

Select Workspaces from the dropdown menu.

Choose the workspace you wish to view.
- Click on Details

Click the Audit trail tab.

- Specific changes can be viewed by expanding the entry

What’s included in the Audit Trail?
SciNote’s audit trail records:
- Audit id — a unique identifier for each audit record

Timestamp — when the action occurred

User — who performed the action. Actions performed automatically by the system are shown as System user.

Object type — the type of object affected (e.g., Project, Task, Experiment)

Object id — the unique identifier of the affected object

Name — the full path of the affected object (e.g., Project / Experiment / Task)
- Action — the type of change (e.g., Object created, Object updated)

Values — a summary of the change. Click Expand to view field-level details, including old and new values.
Note: Activities performed as part of inventory snapshots are recorded in the Audit Trail.
Filtering the Audit Trail
The Audit Trail includes filters to help you find specific records. You can filter by one or more of the following:
- Start date / End date — limit results to a specific date range
- Object type — filter by the type of object affected
- Object id — enter an object id to find records for a specific object
- Parent type — filter by the type of the parent object
- Parent id — enter a parent id to narrow results. Select a Parent type first to enable this field.
- Parent name — filter by the name of the parent object
- User — filter by the user who performed the action
- Action — filter by the type of action performed
To apply filters:
- Set one or more filter values.
- Click the Filter button.
To reset all filters, click Clear filters.
How to export the Audit Trail:
- Apply any filters you want to use (optional). The export will include only the records matching your active filters.
- Click the Export button in the upper right of the Audit Trail view.

SciNote will send you an email with a download link.

Click the link in the email to download your audit trail as a
.csvfile.
The exported file contains the following columns, in the same order as the Audit Trail page:
