Yes! While each task can be linked to only one protocol template at a time, you can insert specific protocol steps from multiple published templates or multiple published protocol templates into a single task protocol.
If you have a task that involves more than one protocol or procedure, you don’t need to split it into multiple tasks anymore. Instead, you can link a main protocol template to the task and then insert steps from additional published SciNote protocol templates as needed or a whole protocol.
To insert steps from another protocol:
- In the Task, click on Protocol actions
- After, click Add protocol steps
- A new window will open from which you can select the relevant protocol template and individual steps or all the steps to include the whole protocol

If your Task protocol is linked to a Protocol Template, inserting steps from other templates will trigger the icon to change. When blue, this indicates that the protocol on the task itself has been modified from the protocol version of the template itself.
